In this short announcement, Digital Nasional Berhad (DNB) finally announced the appointment of new Board members. Following the Share Subscription Agreements (SSAs) signed between DNB, the Ministry of Finance and our local Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) on 1 December 2023, the new Board members comprise senior leaders from our local telco and technology industry.
According to DNB, the five new members will join the other two incumbent members, Datuk Johan Mahmood Merican and Mr Ma Sivanesan Marimuthu, on the Board of DNB. Below is the official list of the new Board member appointees and their alternates.
With this, DNB told the media that the company is looking forward to obtaining valuable input and direction from the newly constituted Board in driving the advancement of Malaysia's digital infrastructure and the adoption of 5G technology across industries, enterprises, the public sector and consumers.
While no details about the dual 5G network were announced, we hope that this speeds up the process towards the goal. It was promised by the government after achieving over 80% of 5G area network coverage at the end of 2023.
